FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK IF WE HIRE YOU?

Once we talk or email about the details of the unit you would like to have inspected (brand, model, size, number of slides, location, etc) I will send you a price quote for the inspection service. Once you sign off on the quote we will arrange a date and time for the inspection and I will send you a link for online payment.

Inspections can take anywhere 6-12 hours, depending on the size and type of unit. In order to conduct a complete inspection the unit should be parked someplace that is accessible to electricity, sewer and water hookups.

Once my inspection is complete I will meet with you or call you to discuss my initial assessment and findings. You can expect to receive your comprehensive written inspection report (typically around 100 pages) within 24-48 hours.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PERFORM AN INSPECTION?

Because I know the purchase of an RV or travel trailer is a significant investment, my inspection process is extremely thorough and detailed, covering more than 100 inspection points. My inspections can take anywhere from 6-12 hours, depending on the size, model and condition of the unit.

DO WE, AS THE BUYERS, NEED TO BE THERE DURING THE INSPECTION?

While I need an owner or owner's representative to give me access to the unit, there is no need for you, my customer, to be present during the inspection (especially since inspections can take a full day to complete!).

However, I do need to be able to contact you (preferably by phone) at any time during the inspection in case I run into unexpected issues.

Once my inspection is complete I will meet with you or call you to discuss my initial assessment and findings. I will provide your comprehensive written inspection report within 24-48 hours of the inspection.

ARE YOU LICENSED AND INSURED?

I am an insured, professionally trained and certified Level 2 RV Inspector, certified through the National Recreational Vehicle Inspectors Association.

I LIVE OUT OF STATE - CAN I STILL WORK WITH YOU?

Absolutely! I know the lengths and distance buyers will go through to find the perfect RV...and they can't always be found just down the street! If you are considering purchasing (or selling) an RV or travel trailer in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee or Mississippi feel free to contact me. (There are additional travel charges for locations outside a 90 mile radius of Huntsville, Alabama)

HOW MUCH DOES AN INSPECTION COST?

The price of my inspection services are based on factors related to your unit, including length, number of air conditioners and special features. Please contact me for an individualized quote. I'm happy to discuss the process with you and address any specific questions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

RV Owner 101 Training

OWNING AN RV IS JUST LIKE A HOUSE ON WHEELS, RIGHT?

While RVs and travel trailers can offer all of the comforts of a stationary home, they require unique operating and  maintenance care. The constant movement they endure, especially across rough roads and various terrains, combined with the differences in manufacturing practices from traditional homes, means RVs and travel trailers can wear down and wear out faster. That's why it's important to understand the proper operations and maintenance practices for your unit.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK IF WE HIRE YOU?

Our RV Owners 101 training is instruction individualized to YOUR RV or travel trailer. We will walk through the complete set up process of your unit (leveling, attaching water, sewer and electric systems, etc), trouble shooting common issues, tips for basic tools and equipment to keep with you, and the pack up process, including checking and emptying grey and black tanks.

For the RV Owners 101 training to be most effective the unit should be parked in a place accessible to water and electric hookups.

My goal is for you to have an enjoyable and confident experience using your RV or travel trailer.

HOW LONG DOES THE TRAINING TAKE?

Our RV Owners 101 course typically lasts around 2 hours, depending on the size and model of your unit. Because the course is individualized to YOUR specific unit and your experience level, the timeframe may vary, depending on your needs.

HOW IS THIS TRAINING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT I CAN LEARN FROM YOUTUBE VIDEOS?

It's true that there is a great deal of information available on social media, and some of it can be helpful.

However, the Smart Start RV Owners 101 training offers personalized instruction, specifically for YOUR RV or travel trailer, giving you the opportunity to ask questions based your experience level and situation and to receive hands-on training that will improve your knowledge and confidence in owning and operating your RV or travel trailer.
